Proport Design ("we", "us") operates proportdesign.com. This notice explains what personal information the site collects and what we do with it, as required by Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
What we collect
- Contact form. The form on our Contact page asks for your name or company name, your email address and your message. The form does not send anything to our web server and does not use a third-party form service: when you click "Send Message", your own email client opens with the message addressed to z.mcneil@proportpiping.com, and you decide whether to send it. The site stores nothing.
- Phone calls and email. If you call or email us, we receive your phone number or email address and whatever you tell us about your project.
- Hosting logs. Our hosting provider keeps standard web-server logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested, date and time) for security and troubleshooting.
-
Analytics. The site uses Google Analytics 4 (Google LLC), which sets analytics cookies (named
_gaand_ga_*) to tell returning browsers apart and records pages viewed, approximate location (city level), device and browser type, and how you arrived at the site. We also record an anonymous event when someone clicks our phone number, and Google Analytics may record standard interactions such as scrolling and clicks on links to other sites. The content of your message is never sent to Google.
No advertising trackers. No social-media pixels. Apart from the Google Analytics cookies described above, the site sets no cookies of its own.
Why
- To answer your enquiry and prepare a quote.
- To keep the site secure and understand which pages are useful, so we can improve them.
- To keep business records where the law requires it (for example, invoices for completed work).
Who handles it for us
- Hosting: GoDaddy (web hosting and server logs). GoDaddy may add its own traffic-measurement script to the pages it serves; that script is governed by GoDaddy's privacy policy, not ours.
- Analytics: Google LLC (Google Analytics 4). Google's privacy policy applies to the data it processes. You can block analytics with your browser's cookie settings or Google's opt-out browser add-on.
- Fonts, scripts and video: page fonts are loaded from Google Fonts; the Bootstrap, GLightbox and three.js libraries from the jsDelivr CDN; and one image-loading library on the Our Work page from unpkg.com. The Site Layout page shows videos through YouTube's privacy-enhanced (youtube-nocookie.com) player, including a muted background video that starts when the page opens. The video behind the Oil & Gas page's “Watch Video” button plays in Vimeo's player, which may set Vimeo's own cookies. Your browser sends its IP address to these services when it fetches those files or loads a video.
- Email: enquiries arrive in our business mailbox at proportpiping.com.
These providers may store data outside Canada (mainly in the United States); they are bound by their contracts and privacy policies to protect it.
How long
- Enquiries: kept only as long as we need them to respond and follow up, then deleted, unless they turn into a project.
- Project and billing records: kept for as long as tax and business laws require.
- Analytics: held in our Google Analytics account under Google's data-retention settings; we do not keep a separate copy.
Children
This site is for businesses and contractors. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Your rights
You can ask what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it (unless the law requires us to keep it). Write to z.mcneil@proportpiping.com. You may also contact the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta.
